The negotiations between TPLF and the Prosperity Party aim to unite under the name “Prosperity Party.”

TPLF is negotiating to join Prosperity

Information gathered by Wazema Radio from multiple outlets suggests that the TPLF is currently engaged in a number of discussions to align itself with the ruling party’s vision of prosperity, despite labeling it as “unlawful” just four years ago. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of the TPLF, a signatory of the Pretoria Peace Agreement following a two-year conflict, has indicated his willingness to participate in the party’s prosperity agenda under the leadership of the chairman, emphasizing the need to address certain conditions before formalizing the alliance.

The EPRDF prior to Bolsenga was a coalition of four sub-parties with equal representation in both the executive and central committee, whereas Bolsenga is a unified party. The representation in the Prosperity party is based on population size rather than equal representation like the EPRDF member organizations.

TPLF Chairman Debretsion Gebremichael was present in Addis Ababa to kickstart the negotiations, while Adam Farah, Deputy Chairman of Bletsegna, later traveled to Mekele for in-depth discussions two weeks later. Although there are leaders who believe that merging prosperity through conflict is “wrong…and not necessary”, the integration is crucial to finding solutions to Tigray’s issues.

  1. If they were going to finally follow Lidetu’s recommendation to work under one party roof, why did this two evil wings of the EPRDF separate in the first place? It is good they are dancing hand-in-hand, for they deserve to be gotten rid of hand-in-hand.

  2. We are told that TPLF denies dialogue for merger with the ruling Prosperity Party. Then it intends to be what? This is TPLF denies dialogue for merger with the ruling Prosperity Party going in the right direction? This front outfit is still held by stubborn commies and ruled with an iron grip. It calls itself a ‘front’. How is that? A front in a political setting is where various groups/parties coming together to fight a common enemy. But this outfit is not such a front. Debre is Debre and only his way rules. Getachew is Getachew and his way(being a replica of Debre’s but being told in a different fashion) rules. Otherwise, you will face a night of ‘the long knives’. This is not comfort news for those noble citizens of Tigray.
