South Sudan Locates More Than 100 Abducted Ethiopian Children

May 6, 2016

South Sudan’s government said it located more than 100 children abducted last month from Ethiopia and that troops from the neighboring country crossed the border to help search for them, Bloomberg reported last week.
The children are unharmed and being held by raiders from the Murle community in a remote area about 300 kilometers (186 miles) northeast of South Sudan’s capital, Juba, presidential spokesman Ateny Wek Ateny said by phone, citing a report from tribal chiefs.
Ethiopian forces crossed into the country to assist the search, a move backed by South Sudan’s government, Ateny said. Ethiopian government spokesman Getachew Reda confirmed by phone that his country’s troops are operating in the area.
