The Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abune Mathias, emphasized the necessity of resolving internal issues through dialogue and adherence to the church’s established rules during his speech at the annual Holy Synod meeting.

He called upon the archbishops and bishops to tackle the current challenges faced by the church by upholding its longstanding traditions and practices, highlighting the importance of maintaining unity within the church community. 3. Abune Mathias pointed out that the church is currently dealing with various critical matters such as the decline of spiritual customs, internal divisions, and violations of the church’s canonical structure, underscoring the significance of addressing these issues collectively and in accordance with the church’s teachings.

Patriarch Abune Mathias has made a plea to the archbishops and bishops, urging them to engage in comprehensive discussions in order to find timely solutions to the challenges that are currently being faced. He emphasized the importance of resolving these issues through wisdom and adherence to the laws and order of the church, as activities that go against the canons and traditions of the church are posing threats to its peace and unity. It is crucial for all members of the church to come together and agree with one another in their words, ensuring that there are no divisions among them, but rather a perfect unity in mind and thought.
