Ethiopia has big medaling day at World Athletics Championships: Medals table after Day 4

While Team USA still leads the total medal count in the World Athletics Championships, Ethiopia had a big Monday performance.

Ethiopia took home the gold in the only medaling event of the morning session, as Gotytom Gebreslase won the women’s marathon. In total, Ethiopia had three medalists on Monday.

In the afternoon session, Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar won his third world championship in the high jump. Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas won the top medal in the women’s triple jump. Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali followed up his Tokyo Olympic medal with a world title in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. All three were the first medals for their respective countries.

In the women’s 1,500 meters, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon reclaimed her gold after taking silver at the 2019 event.

Here’s a complete look at the Oregon22 medals table, as well as a look at who won medals in individual events on the first day of competition.

  1. Our gallant boys and girls never traveled thousands of miles to grab cheap metal. What did you say? Bronze? Never heard of it!!! 3 gold and 3 silver? Gold is up, silver is up! What else can you ask for? Ok bigots!!! Like I told umpteen times already, hurry up to a lake near you and jump in the deep end to never come up. Letesenbet is ours! Gotytom is ours! Tamrat is ours! Gudaf is ours! Lemecha is ours! Mosinet is ours! You dig? You losers have nothing except your blabbering poisonous mouths that has stunk the entire neighborhood with your dragon breath. You tried everything to make these heroes do something to embarrass those 120 plus glorious people and you did not get them to hands crossed. What they instead did was step back and spit a mouth full right in your uncomely faces.

  2. Bilisummaa Aba Dula

If Gidey or Gotytom had an option to pick and choose between two sovereign countries, which she would like to represent, ethiopia ain’t it!

  3. Yesterday our daughters Werkuha bint Getachew and Mekides bint Abebe had brought me the silver and bronze in the Women’s 3,000M Steeplechase. I told you already that I’m on the moon chillin’ and I have no plan coming back until the games in Oregon are over. How about today? All of our golden daughters who competed in every 800M heat have qualified for the semifinal which will take place tomorrow July 22. Our sons and daughters have been focusing on races longer than the 800 and 1500 meters. But now they are in it, not just to be in it but to win it. By that the athletics world’s nightmare has just began. It will be their exclusive house soon. Then I will skip town and go all the way to Mars. I’m giving all of you an order to watch the Women’s 5000M final(all our 3 daughters are in it and Letesenbet, Gudaf and Dawit will be terrorizing the field) on Saturday and the Men’s 5000M final on Sunday(our lion cub sons will strike fear on everyone else), not only watch but I’m ordering you to cheer them up in spirit. Let’s go!!!
