Eight Hours After His Release Exorcist Priest Memhir Girma Reportedly Re-Detained

November 11, 2015

Debirhan| Less than eight hours after the Arada First Instance Court had yesterday given a 50,000 birr bail to detained Ethiopian exorcist priest Memhir Girma Wondimu, who was detained for over two weeks suspected of “cheating a faithful into selling a house” and also having no legal permit to conduct exorcism and baptismal services, Ethiopian police reportedly detained the Priest again this morning, according to the U.S. based Ze Habesha Newspaper.
The cause of the re-arrest has not yet been known. The priest has so many followers inside and outside of Ethiopia.
It is becoming customary within the Ethiopian justice system to re-arrest defendants that were given bails or acquitted by the Courts undermining the orders of the later.
Five opposition politicians that were detained under the file of De Birhan’s Co-Blogger Zelalem Workagegnhu, who were acquitted by the High Court in August 2015 have not yet been released.
