6 Job opportunities at Africa Centres for Disease Control (Africa CDC)

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is an autonomous health institution of the African Union that supports Member States in their efforts to strengthen their public health systems. Africa CDC was officially launched in January 2017, and is guided by the principles of leadership, credibility, and ownership, and delegated authority, timely dissemination of information, transparency, accountability, and value addition. The institution works with all African countries to strengthen the capabilities of their public health institutions for disease surveillance, emergency response, prevention and control, including the capacity to detect and respond quickly and effectively to disease threats. It also serves as a platform for Member States to share and exchange knowledge and lessons from public health interventions. Public health emergencies arising from public health threats and events continue to be major concern not only in Africa continent but all over the world. To better prepare and respond to these, Africa CDC should have in place a well-established structure of Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations Management. To have effective operations, Africa CDC intends to recruit qualified individual for the following positions:

1.Procurement/Supply Chain Officers ( 2 Positions)
Job purpose: Under the direction of the Division of Management and Administration, he/she will support the delivery of end-to-end procurement activities from planning to contract award in support of Africa CDC activities including Emergency Response activities in accordance with the AU Procurement Guidelines and Emergency Procurement Procedures: Procuring Goods, Services and Works.
Location : Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

2.Senior Project Officer ( 2 Positions)
Under the supervision of the head of Emergency Preparedness and Response Division and, the Senior Project Officer shall support the Principal Program Officer to ensure the planning and implementation of a variety of Africa CDC and WHO AFRO/EMRO jointplanned activities in the area of public health emergencies preparedness and response.
Duty station : Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

3. Principal Programme Officer
Under the supervision of the head of Emergency Preparedness and Response Division, the Principal Programme Officer shall ensure the planning and implementation of a variety of WHO/Africa CDC JEAP planned activities in the area of public health emergencies preparedness and response.

4.Administrative Assistant ( 1 Post)
To facilitate its objective of developing and strengthening the Leadership capacity of key Public Health Institutions in Africa, Africa CDC is looking to recruit a qualified Administrative Assistant, to provide a wide variety of administrative coordination and services support as needed to advance agency strategic goals and objectives. The position will focus on direct services delivery and/or coordinating the delivery of complex administrative support tasks involving delegation and follow-up of individual staff and assigned products
