Seeking a hearing on the crisis in Ethiopia.
I recently had a meeting with Senator Peter Welch from Vermont, who is a part of the Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee focusing on human rights. During our discussion, I asked for his help in arranging a hearing regarding the current crisis in Ethiopia. Our conversation revolved around the worsening human rights conditions, particularly the Ethiopian government’s deployment of drones to target and eliminate innocent civilians in the Amhara region.
I have submitted a letter to Senator Welch, outlining the causes and consequences of the crisis in Ethiopia. The letter emphasizes the crucial significance of political stability and economic prosperity in Ethiopia for the United States. The instability in Ethiopia, the second-most populous country in Africa, poses a threat to the entire Horn of Africa region. While the State Department and the national security community are currently focused on crises in the Middle East, Ukraine, and other areas, it would be a mistake to overlook the impending catastrophe in Ethiopia. Holding a hearing could effectively draw the attention of the Biden administration and Congress to address the situation before it escalates into a disaster. However, time is running out. It is imperative for Congress, the Biden administration, and the international community to hear from experts who possess a comprehensive understanding of the situation on the ground in Ethiopia. Additionally, I have collaborated on a letter urgently requesting Senator Ben Cardin, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to hold a hearing on the crisis in Ethiopia within the Africa subcommittee. The objective of this hearing would be to shed light on the ongoing atrocities in Ethiopia and provide a viable path for the United States government to contribute towards achieving peace in the country.
Draft constitution.
Progress is being made on the development of a preliminary constitution for Ethiopia. A public gathering will take place this summer to review the advancements and deliberate on the two draft constitutions presented by Ato Mekonen Dyamo and Dr. Abera Mesesha, with the aim of finalizing them.
Zehabesha war mongering, Tegarus hating hypocrites. You forgot when you were cheering for the genocidal war on Tigray. Your love Abiy Ahmed, your messiah. Now this. Clown! Haters! TDF nearly took over the capital city Addis Abeba. Now it your turn. Fake Ethiopians! Delusional.
TO MIKE When TPLF was in power you were beating the Drum while the other Ethiopns were suffering, after TPLF sacrifices 1.5 million people , with out any shame TPLF became ABIY salon DOG.
Brother Mesfin:-
Please share the two draft constitutions with the rest of us. It is still better for the two authors to first get together and merge theirs into one draft before sharing with the public.
