The 19-year-old man shot multiple times early Sunday morning on Capitol Hill died of his injuries Thursday night, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s office.

The agency identified the man as Tilahun M. Alemayehu. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the Sunday incident.

The shooting occurred at 10th Avenue and East Pine Street at about 3 a.m., according to police reports. Alemayehu was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

While officers were on their way to the scene, they learned a possible suspect was running through Cal Anderson Park. They found the man and took him into custody. He had a gun in his possession, reports say.

The man was booked into jail, but has since been released. The King County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet received a referral for charges from the Seattle Police Department. A police department spokesman said Friday they are still investigating the case.
