Credit is due to Enginer Simegnew Bekele, who was tragically taken from us, having been mysteriously killed in broad daylight at a public square. Dr. Melkesa has revealed that Abiy Ahmed was directly involved in the engineer’s murder, with all pertinent information being seized by the government. Engineer Simegnew Bekele, Grand Renaissance Dam … The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam: A New Era for Regional Cooperation and Advancement. The premature death of Engineer Simegnew Bekele has left many in Ethiopia and around the world in a state of shock and bewilderment.
Today, Ethiopia is on the brink of making history as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) nears its much-anticipated inauguration this September! With 98.66% completion, the GERD is a symbol of Ethiopian innovation and resilience, paving the way for regional unity and progress.
The GERD isn’t just a marvel of engineering; it’s a promise of brighter futures for neighboring countries too. Imagine access to clean, sustainable energy flowing beyond borders, reducing power deficits in Sudan, Djibouti, and Kenya, and fostering economic growth across the region. This project speaks to Africa’s potential when nations collaborate for a common cause.
From increasing electricity generation to managing seasonal floods, the GERD is set to play a crucial role in the Nile Basin’s development. With climate uncertainty looming, GERD stands as a beacon of low-carbon, African-led initiatives and innovation. Ethiopia, leading the way, shows that collective effort can transform dreams into reality, turning once-divisive rivers into streams of shared destiny.
