The below is attributable to Spokesperson Matt Miller:
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today. The Secretary and Prime Minister discussed the 2022 signing of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA) that ended the two-year war between the Government of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. The Secretary reaffirmed U.S. support for Ethiopian efforts to implement the COHA. The Secretary also underscored the need for political dialogue to address Ethiopia’s other internal conflicts, and shared U.S. concern about growing violence in Amhara. The Secretary and Prime Minister discussed concerns about rising tensions in the Horn of Africa.

It is good news that Good Ole USA is not letting up its engagement with the regime of the old country. I agree with the Secretary about finding amicable solutions to the current bloody conflicts in that country. Let’s hope and pray that his call for peace will be heeded.
Shame on Blinken! He has ignored the plight of the Amhara before, during and after the TPLF-PP war. We look forward to his being removed from his office.
For those and of us who had the privilege and rights to vote today, whether we favored the winner or the loser, our vote has counted. There are many things that need to be attended to domestically and lets hope the elected officials will get together to address them. As far as the foreign affairs, I had more confidence in Trump to produce an accord and bring peace among those on war footing in the Middle East. The Abrahamic Accord was achieved during his first presidency. I hope he will also help find peace for the besieged people we all left behind.
