We say NO to slurs, insults, condescending attitudes – neither as personal attacks nor as attacks on our culture, country.
While Abiy and Shimeles are raping our country, Ethiopia to beget a new monster, in the image of Orommummi, we are engaged on irrelevant polemics. C’est la vie.
Anyway, many writers have posted constructive criticism, rational analyses, opinions on the Ethiopian intellectual class, and on its culture for years – with civility. Our friend has received brotherly advice, and many replies to his tirade- with civility and respect. He calls his hodge podge of anecdotes and fitting quotations from the Bible to Fukuyama and claims he has written “a well-researched paper”. To him, research is referring to what he said earlier. I have compiled a short list of papers, books written on the topic, reading at least some of them: Bahru Zewdie, Messay Kebede, and R Pankhurst, can give a base for discussion. Talking about research, on this forum, and on this topic, Professor Girma has written well-researched papers that could support his anger at the failure of modern Ethiopian Intellectuals to deliver. Read, put forward your argument, and learn! The short list of some intellectuals on the topic is attached.
But see, he doesn’t get it. He hates his own culture so much, I heard (before I joined this forum) he even made his small children say silly things about our culture – the kids don’t even understand the words he made them say! Is this sane?
He himself told us he has been kicked from many jobs, committees, and assignments because of his incompetence in social interactions, because of his attitude.
But he still doesn’t get it. I am afraid if all this experience cannot tell him that maybe it is not everybody else who is wrong – maybe it is him, then he is incapable of getting it.
In that case, it’s futile for us to engage with a “senile delinquent”! (This will be my last foul term if you stop us from using such inappropriate terminology. In fact, it is no use to go on this thread anymore.)

It’s simple. If you allow him to write garbage, you’ll also allow me to do the same, and you’ll end up with a huge heap of garbage! What good can come out of it?
Please stop this. Abide by the principles you wrote down in your guidelines and let us focus on mature communication.

Who said Bahru Zewde writes better? He is a former pseudo-Marxist with a savage dislike for the Emperor and his Government, and he has expressed that in several of his biased articles. The likes of Merid W/Aregay are much better !
