URGENT APPEAL ON BEHALF OF DR. MESERET CHEKOL

November 11, 2012

We are writing this letter of appeal to seek your financial support on behalf of our brother – a long time member of the Ethiopian community in Minnesota – Dr. Meseret Chekol. Dr. Meseret was recently diagnosed with liver cancer. This life-threatening illness requires aggressive treatment, and Dr. Meseret is determined and prepared to do what he can to save his life. Unfortunately, the amount of money needed to get the best treatment possible is beyond the family’s ability to bear. Consequently, Dr. Meseret needs your help and he needs it now. A small group of friends of Dr. Meseret have come together to organize this appeal.
As you are aware, Dr. Meseret has been tirelessly serving our community in many different roles for the entire time he has been in Minnesota – always anchored in his deep sense of love for and uncompromising commitment to his beloved Ethiopia. Dr. Meseret has always stood with us as a community. He has stood with us when we have faced difficulties and he has embraced us when we have celebrated our accomplishments. We are now asking you to stand with him, and you can do that by making a generous donation to support his critically important and determined effort to beat this illness.
Dr. Meseret Chekol is in good spirits. His resolve to beat this illness will only be constrained by the limits of his family’s financial means. Your financial support will enable him to fight for his life. True to our tradition of giving and sharing, anchored in our beliefs of taking care of our own, we are optimistic that you will step forward to show your support for Dr. Meseret.
