50-State Strategy: A Call to Action
Organize, Advocate, and Act to Prevent Genocide in Ethiopia’s Amhara Region
Ethiopia is facing a rapidly deteriorating human rights crisis, especially in the Amhara region. Civilians are being targeted, communities destroyed, and millions displaced. The warning signs are unmistakable: Ethiopia is on the path to genocide.
Silence is not an option. It is time to act — in every state, in every district.
We are launching a 50-State Strategy to mobilize Ethiopian Americans and friends of Ethiopia across the country. Each state will organize efforts to contact U.S. Senators and Members of Congress to raise awareness and demand action from the U.S. government.
What You Can Do
- Organize Locally
Form or join a state-level advocacy group to coordinate outreach to your elected officials. - Contact Your Senators and Representatives
Call, write, and request meetings with your Senators and Members of Congress.- Explain the worsening human rights situation in Ethiopia.
- Emphasize the atrocities being committed against Amhara civilians.
- Highlight the Ethiopian government’s suppression of democracy, unlawful killings, and mass imprisonment.
- Ask for Congressional Action
- Urge your Senators and Representatives to press the U.S. State Department to engage directly and publicly on Ethiopia’s human rights crisis.
- Request that Congress introduce and pass a resolution condemning the Ethiopian government’s human rights abuses and democratic backsliding.
- Raise Awareness
Remind them that Ethiopia is one of Africa’s most populous and influential nations — a cornerstone of regional stability and a historic ally in the fight against terrorism.
Ignoring this crisis is a mistake that endangers both human lives and U.S. strategic interests in the Horn of Africa.
Why It Matters
The crises in the Middle East and Ukraine dominate global attention, but Ethiopia’s crisis cannot be ignored. The Amhara region’s suffering demands immediate attention and decisive action. The U.S. must not remain silent in the face of mass atrocities.
While Ethiopia’s future ultimately lies in the hands of Ethiopians, the United States can and must play a critical role in supporting human rights, democracy, and peace.
America’s moral leadership — and the stability of the Horn of Africa — are at stake.
Take Action Now
Contact your Senators and Representatives today.
Demand that they:
- Speak out against atrocities in Ethiopia
- Introduce legislation and resolutions condemning human rights abuses
- Support efforts for peace, accountability, and democratic governance
Together, through organized advocacy in all 50 states, we can make sure Ethiopia’s crisis is not forgotten — and help prevent genocide before it’s too late.
