Herman Cohen (Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs from 1989 – 1993) and officials from Great Britain negotiated for the TPLF (Tigray People Liberation Front), labeled as terrorist group between 1990 and 1992 by the Global Terrorism Database) to take power in Ethiopia in 1991. In addition to carrying a terrorist badge, TPLF leaders did not like Ethiopia, as their main objective was to secede Tigray from the motherland. None of that mattered to the so-called expert negotiators, and the TPLF got the blessings of the west, graduating from a terrorist group terrorizing Tigreans in Tigray to a terrorist government terrorizing the nation.
For twenty-seven years, TPLF leaders tortured and killed their political opponents, massacred Ethiopians, looted the nation and put all western aid money in their pockets and no donor nation holds them accountable. Instead, donor nations ignored atrocities committed treating the TPLF as an ally until its downfall.
The Dedebit toolbox, constructed by the late Dictator Meles Zenawi, was a box of many intrigues, assassinations, mass killings, rape, ethnic cleansing, misinformation, looting, torture techniques, manufacturing political parties, and installing stooges in national and international organizations, including international news media outlets like the BBC (British Broadcasting).
In 1997, the TPLF pretended to hold democratic elections. Rejected by Ethiopians, they put the winners in prison, killed 200 peaceful demonstrators and claimed victory. The US and EU did nothing serious to punish the TPLF. To the disgust of citizens, the TPLF used Susan Rice, Obama’s National security advisor (friend of Dictator Meles Zenawi) to get international recognition. An ill-informed President announced the TPLF as democratically elected. The friendship between Meles Zenawi and Susan Rice depicted in her recent book entitled “Tough Love” (see below).
In 2018, the same terrorist forces ousted out of power carried their toolbox to their ethnic base in Tigray. They refused to work with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed as he was trying to re-unify a country they worked hard to dismantle. They carried out several assassination attempts on him, they collaborated with other power mongers and Oromo extremists to incite religious and ethnic cleansings, and destabilize the nation. All that time the US and EU did not tell their TPLF friends to stop the bloodshed.
In November 2020, the TPLF pulled out the worst of its tools and committed treason on the country by backstabbing the Northern Command Military Forces stationed in Tigray. Their senior official called it a thunderous measure on the military. During that evil operation, hundreds of Military personnel assassinated while hundreds were undressed and forced to walk barefoot to neighboring Eritrea for humiliation purposes. Women military members stripped naked and left with their underwear in an auditorium until rescued by their comrades after days. In a recent interview, the leading TPLF General, Tsadkan Gebretensae, admitted the fact that the TPLF was armed to its neck after looting 80% of the heavy artillery in the country, but they were overwhelmed by firepower supported by drones forcing them to drop their pants and run.
While the prime minister was begging them to stop their war drum beat until they pushed him against the wall, it is clear that all the traitor generals were spending most of their time drinking whisky, and they had no clue about the military capacity the prime minister was building in their own backyard. No wonder why, this will be recorded as the only time in the world that a terrorist force, armed to its neck completely wrecked in three weeks by a regrouped and determined military force that had clear purpose of national security and love of country.
While the interview given by the TPLF’s top general is evidence for his utter incompetence, the same incompetent generals were also giving orders to fire rockets on civilians in Gojam, Gonder and Asmara, inviting Eritrea and Amhara forces to the fight. Despite the fact that Ethiopia has every right to invite Eritrean troops to enforce peace in the border region, the US and EU should take general Tsadkan’s confessions seriously and direct the blame to their TPLF friends.
“All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal”, a quote from John Steinbeck makes very good sense. However, reflecting up on the way two major wars started by TPLF leaders in our lifetime, (1) The Ethio Eritrean war of 1998 that claimed close to 70,000 Ethiopian and Eritrean lives, and (2) The recent war TPLF started resulting in its own demise, makes you wonder if TPLF leaders have an iota of humanity. Thanks to their utter ignorance, the TPLF is now a dead fish; supporters of that torturous regime should get over it and change course. The only thing they should plan should be a burial ceremony in Dedebit; its birthplace in Tigray.
While most of the TPLF’s leaders are dead or imprisoned, remnants of the TPLF in the diaspora are still using what is remaining in the Dedebit toolbox. Namely, using all looted resources, friends in power in the US and EU, TPLF stooges in the United Nations including Tedros Adhanom (WHO head), and journalists inserted in the BBC, and other news organizations to continue to disseminate lies and misinformation.
While the majority of Ethiopians are happy with the direction Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is following and are looking forward for the first ever-democratic elections in the country, the current US and EU policy is weird, mostly based on a misinformation campaign. The unfortunate reality is that, the US and EU seem to care more about saving those criminal elements who have been abusing Ethiopians for years than 110 million Ethiopians who are breathing a sigh of relief with the TPLF out of the picture in Ethiopian politics.
All this makes you wonder if the same power brokers (the US and GB) may be missing the TPLF hyenas because they were good pets that do whatever they were told. It is obvious that TPLF supporters in the diaspora may be missing the leftovers they used to get from looted treasures and the privileges they got for silencing other Ethiopians or just for belonging to one ethnic group.
May God Bless Ethiopia!
May God Bless and Protect Ethiopia’s Brave Military Forces!
