Ethiopian economy is suffering from loss due traffic accident: Federal Police Commission

Ethiopian federal police commission announced that the country’s economy is suffering hugely from the increasing and rampant traffic accident. According to a higher official of the commission, the country is losing thousands of professional youth force and hundreds of millions of birr due to traffic accident; in its wake causing a huge burden to the country’s economy.

World Health Organization (WHO)’s report has indicated that 1.3 million people have lost their lives due to traffic accident in 2013 alone. Millions have also suffered various kinds of physical and psychological damages and traumas due to the traffic accident.
In Ethiopia, last year alone more than three thousand people have lost their lives due to traffic accident. More than eleven thousand have also suffered physical injuries. The amount of damage to the economy has skyrocketed to half a billion birr.
