October 20, 2021 /APA News

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Tuesday banned Bahir Dar Stadium from hosting international games including the National Team’s next world cup qualifier game against Ghana. The venue has recently been hosting home the entire matches of the Ethiopian National Football Team including a 1-3 loss against South Africa in world cup qualifiers

Caf declared the Stadium as unfit to host international games after its club licensing senior manager, Muhammad F. Sidat recently visited several venues in Ethiopia.

As per the assessment, the stadium failed to meet at least seven of CAf’s requirements, according to Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF). Substandard medical, VIP, Media centers as well as training facilities of the stadium are among the reasons for ban.

The Stadium is now banned from hosting any international games including World Cup Qualifiers, CAF African Champions League Confederation Cup matches, said the Federation.

Ethiopia was expected to host its next match against Ghana for Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 in Bahir Dar Stadium on November 11.

Caf has given Ethiopia until Oct 20 to report back its decision regarding which country and stadium for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers match.

If the Federation fails to replay, the match will be held in Ghana.

Jimma and Hawassa stadiums have also failed to fit Caf’s requirements to host international games, according to EFF.

Caf, however, allowed Abebe Bikila stadium to temporarily host international games at junior level as well as matches of Ethiopian Women National Football team.

  1. It is sad and embarrassing to fail to meet international standards that are already known by all parties. Solution? Fire authorities responsible for the mess and appoint competent leaders.

  2. Surprised? At a time when everybody is talking about war and political vengeance, who can look after sport, economic development and social welfare? Isn’t this very sad?

  4. Black folks, we black folks! We don’t mow the grass in our yards, we let shrubs take over! We black folks are the same every where!!! We let that lawn mower languish in our garage while the grass and shrubs having good time out there!!! How about snow, you may ask! Forget about it!!! We black folks! It is in our DNA! We are allergic to mowing and landscaping! These two are like COVID-19 to us! I heard that toilets are clogged and overflowing with sewage streaming in the hallways. It is more than embarrassing. It is disgusting. Don’t you tell me there is labor shortage. Please don’t. With millions of youth unemployed? Don’t even think about it! Where are those mayors? Where have they been? I say fire their lazy tuchus us out of office. I called a friend to tell him about this shameful story he told me that they use sickles to cut down the grass and shrubs. This reminds me a story one of my friends told me years ago. He knew someone who took his new bride(originally from Europe) to the old country to show her how beautiful it is. Then one day they were walking over a bridge when she noticed a man way down there by the river. There was foul smell rushing upward from the river and she saw that man suddenly dropping his pants to answer nature calls. She got nauseated and they had to rush back to their hotel room. I was not sure how that relationship panned out after they came back. This is the same in all African and some Asian cities. It is just sheer laziness. I see Bahir Dar is right there by one of the largest fresh water lakes in Africa so water can not be an issue. Lazy bumps!!! Hey mayor! In my book, you’re fired, out, dégage!!! Good bye and come here and apply for political asylum claiming ‘Abiy brutality! Abiy brutality!’
