Demonstration at the Vienna Conference “Abdullah Center”

Some 50 participants in demonstration against poor living conditions for Ethiopians – General Secretary: “dialogue only mission”
Vienna – Under the motto “Saudi Arabia: Abdullah Kingdom of Hell” demonstrated some 50 Ethiopians before the Vienna Hilton. Ethiopians were brutally raped, tortured and killed in Saudi Arabia, said a demonstration participants. The demonstrators demanded that the Viennese “Abdullah-center” to use compared to the Saudi Arabian government for the Ethiopians in place.

The one year anniversary of the controversial component financed by Saudi Arabia Vienna “Abdullah Center” On Monday a two-day conference on “The Image of the Other” started. “Dialogue is the only mission of the center Abdullah,” said its secretary general Faisal Bin Abdulrahman Bin Muammar at the start of the event at the Hilton Vienna hotel.

Planned “Honest Dialogue”

The “King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue” is mostly financed by Saudi Arabia. Critics of the institution a try riads improve his internationally for human rights violations tarnished image.

Bin Muammar emphasized that the center “bridges of dialogue” and respect build. The goal is to deepen the inter-religious and intercultural understanding for one another goal. During the conference an “honest dialogue” between experts, religious leaders and politicians should be conducted on the topic. They want to identify “best practice models” and implement in the future. “Let us understand the similarities and not to focus on the differences,” said Bin Muammar.

Organized four conferences

According to the Center take 500 experts from politics and religion in 90 countries at the conference in Vienna. In its first year, the center has organized four regional conferences in Vienna, Addis Ababa, New Delhi and Buenos Aires.

Abdullah The center is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of representatives of the major world religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) and cultures. The Dialog Center receives equal support from the governments of Saudi Arabia, Spain and Austria, each of which is represented in the Council of Parties of the center.
