Young Ethiopian Killed by Hit-and-Run in Washington DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle close to the intersection of Girard Street NW early Sunday morning, DC Police said.
The accident happened around 3:17 a.m., police said. The victim, Bareket Haile, 26, of NE, D.C. was crossing the street in the 2700 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, when he was hit by the vehicle that was going northbound, police said.

The vehicle did not stop to help the victim, authorities said. According to the investigation, the vehicle may be a dark colored, four-door, Chrysler sedan. The vehicle has stock chrome wheels, with noticeable damage to the driver’s side. The vehicle was spotted going westbound on Girard Street from Georgia Avenue, police said.
Haile was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Georgia Avenue between Fairmont St and Girard St NW was closed to due the accident, police said.
The crash is still under investigation, according to police.
