Oromya: Hot bed for the ongoing Ethiopians protest and the upcoming revolution

kkToday is the fifth day since the students protest began on the controversial Addis Ababa Integrated master plan. Students from different parts of the country showed a high level peaceful demonstration which is the first in its kind in Ethiopia.
day-5-296x445They displayed a silence protest in their own university camasses. They refused to eat their meals. They also wore black in support of the people who died for the same reason in the same week.
However, the government responded in a very arrogant way and never tried to listen to the protesters. Police opened fire and killed over 10 people within two days.
On its media, the government also warned citizens to stop the protest without any condition otherwise they will get the consequence. This also make more people angry. Now farmers and women are joining the protest in many towns in Oromia region.
This morning, they blocked the road route from the capital city to the South West directions and many other local junctions,
It is also reported that protesters broke the big prison in Woliso, South West town and released prisoners. Police officers left the town and the people took control of the place.
According to local people, the issue is now bigger than the master plan. They are demanding the government to reverse its land policy that was put on place since the constitution or step down and make a transitional government.
According to local news, the government is holding emergency meetings with its supporters in many towns to calm the situation. It is believed that the government will try to impose the agenda without any change, many speculates based on its previous behavior.

  1. It’s time for change. The Ethiopian people deserve a change. Anything would possibly be better then what our beautiful motherland with its beautiful people are passing now. I as alot more brothers and sisters had to leave my HOME because life was getting just too damned hard and I feel disgusted by the arrogance that our so called heads of state resolve REAL problems in the way they call “democratic”. I deeply hope that our great and beloved Ethiopia finally stops suffering.
