(Addis Ababa) U.S. President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that Ethiopia “cannot unleash the full potential of its people” if it jails journalists and restricts legitimate opposition groups.
Ethiopia’s government has acknowledged it had more work to do to develop its democracy but also says any journalists it has detained committed crimes.
In a speech at the African Union, Obama also said Central African Republic leaders needed to commit to inclusive elections and a peaceful transition of power. Elections in October will mark a return to democratic rule after the Seleka rebels toppled President Francois Bozize in March 2013, sparking a conflict.

  1. Personal defamation, hate and violence instigation is not part of journalism. Such behaviours is not considered as journalism or nor be tolerated even in America.

  2. You tell that to Weyanes, ( don’t jail journalists and opposition leaders) it goes in one ear and comes out in the other! you know why? there is nothing to stop it in between. Their head is vacuum! it is a matter of time before the re-arrest even those they have released. I wish that they be moved to a safer place where they could not put their hands again.!!
Weyanes are unclean things, and who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean thing? Perhaps Mr. Obama will! Anyway he has come and now is gone, all the rhetoric for the two days, did not mean a thing to the average Ethiopian on the street.
” who is kidding who?” Is Mr. Obama trying to fool the average citizen by his groomed speech? Deep down everyone including himself know that those well meaning words do not hold any substance!!
The people of Ethiopia have two choice before them: 1. Either accept defeat and surrender their whole being to Weyane, and live a life of servitude, and wait their time to die silently one by one in the hand of the tyrants. or 2. Fight for their freedom and secure it with their blood.
As I have stated many times I say this again; Weyane and Ethiopia can not coexist! One must go!! And weyane will go and it is just a matter of time and I have no doubt very soon!!
The struggle will continue on! The heroic sons and daughters of Ethiopia will bring freedom and justice for the oppressed mass of our nation!
the land will be cleansed and the curse (Weyane) will be removed!!
