Ethiopia have disclosed that their secret to clip the Eagles in the two-legged World Cup qualifier playoffs will be to have each player perform at 100 percent of his potential.
Saint-George left back Abebaw Butako, who is in camp with the home-based Ethiopian squad, has averred that Nigeria’s status of African Champions will be of no use as they need the qualification as much as Ethiopia.
“Our minds are on the upcoming match against Nigeria whom we have played before. Though we respect them as the African champions, we are all chasing the same dream of qualifying for the World Cup and at this point the history will not be useful,” Butako said.
“We cannot afford to be complacent at this moment. The secret will be for each player to give 100 percent in both matches,” he asserted.
The Ethiopian training camp will reach full effective this weekend with the arrival of foreign-based stars like Israeli-based Asrat Megersa Gobena and Belgium-based Saladin Said, Libyan-based Shimelis Bekele and others.
The first leg of the game will play on October 13 at the Addis Ababa Stadium while the return leg will play at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Nigeria.
