Ethiopian Prince to Visit Historical Churches and Institutions in Chicago on the 60th Anniversary of King Haile Selassie’s Visit in 1954

As movies such as “12 Years A Slave” are praised for their depiction of black history during slavery, the Queen of Sheba Historical Research Foundation, Inc., in Chicago believes black history must not be restricted to the history of slavery alone.

Come learn and reconnect to your Royal History–before slavery.

In answer to the question “Can knowledge of self really make a difference?” Wolette Selassie President of the Queen of Sheba Foundation responds, “It is important for our people, particularly black youth, to know about the history of ancient Ethiopia, which we are about to reveal, because we believe it will offer a higher cultural identity for black Americans than a history which is restricted to slavery alone.”

In the quest to reconnect black Americans to their ancient royal history, before slavery, Queen of Sheba is hosting His Highness Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie, grandson of King Haile Selassie I, at the DuSable Museum in Chicago on June 29 2014. Prince Ermias will be presenting a lecture on ancient Ethiopia and his family’s royal legacies.

“The Queen of Sheba has conducted 40 years of investigative research that links His Highness’ royal lineage to “Cush” of Genesis 2:13 and also to the biblical Throne of David,” Wolette Selassie said. She further states, “The Queen of Sheba can now answer the question, ‘why is the African presence missing from the Bible?’” The answer will be presented at their inaugural event in June.

Prince Ermias’ visit to Chicago occurs during two historic anniversaries: the 60th anniversary of his grandfather’s, King Haile Selassie I, visit in 1954; and the 78th anniversary of Prince Lij Zaphiro’s visit in 1936 to garner support for Ethiopia during the fascist genocide of the Ethiopian people from 1935-1941.

This historic event is taking place in partnership with the DuSable Museum and the historic Chicago Defender Newspaper, which has historically supported Ethiopia since 1908.

Like his grandfather before him, Prince Ermias wants to connect with local leaders, continue dialogue with black churches and to invite black Americans to become aware of their connections to this history.

While in Chicago, Prince Ermias will make courtesy calls at Chicago Defender Headquarters, Rainbow PUSH and the South Park Baptist Church, where his grandfather was graciously received in 1954. The media is invited to speak with Prince Ermias and hear information about the Queen of Sheba Research Foundation’s incredible work

  1. Dinkem Prince… Over whom and in what territory is he prince now? His grand father, Emperor Haile Selassie, was addicted to power to the extent that he was not willing to abdicate his power even to one of his own “progressive” children at age 80+. Every one knows what happened to him! Mengistu Hailemariam and his accomplices massacred the emperor and buried him under a big toilette hole. Did Haile Selassie deserve all this atrocity? To be frank, no human being, even the late terrorist and tirbalist Meles Zenawi, deserves this kind of inhuman treatment. However, Emperor Haile Selassie brought this hell to himself by giving blind eyes to the woes and plights of the people and by being addicted to power upto the age of his senility. Overall, I believe Emperor Haile Selassie’s legacy is very mixed :
(+) Continued some of the Modernization Agendas of Menelik
(+) Educated the Ethiopian Youth Without any Discrimination
(+) Freed the Ethiopian Church from Coptic Subjugation and Exploitation
(+) Brought Africa together, i.e. Founded the OAU
(-) Ran away to the UK when Italy invaded the country
(-) Killed many patriotic Ethiopians, including Belay Zeleke
(-) Instituted one of the worst Feudal systems that alienated 90% of the people
(-) Broke the Eritrean Federation that eventually resulted in the secession of Eritrea
    etc…

Despite all the ills of his time, Haile Selassie appears to be better than the butcher Mengistu HaileMariam and the traitor/tirbalist/terrorist Meles Zenawi. Haile Selassie did many wrongs and exploited the Ethiopian nation, Mengistu and Meles killed and destroyed the country all together.

If you have noticed I did not talk about the current PM HaileMariam Desalegn. Since the spirit of “Meles the Talaku Meri” is guiding him and his job is to continue the “Meles Legacy,” HaileMariam is effectively Meles. We can talk about HaileMariam when he becomes himself.

    • …we can see by your utterances that appear to be filled with ethnic prejudice that you are not aware of your own history if you wonder “over whom and what territory. does Prince control? Is that all your received after reading our press release? We are promoting the ancient history of Ethiopia during that time when it was known as KUSH in Genesis 2:13 and all you can see is taking an opportunity to personally attack HIM and the President of the Crown? You can never been a tree that is rooted in this history which many nations would give anything to own. I haven’t seen many Ethiopians using the same langauge on Mengsitu or Meles and their supporters who are no in this country amongst people who are unaware they took place in massacring their own people–more than 200,000 people. When did HIM do that? Why aren’t you talking about the criminals who came over the those who were forced into exile? These criminals now live in America and abroad living a comfortable life…hoping never to be exposed Many of these criminals have become “up right citizens” —there is one teaching at a prestigious university who took part in drowning students at Addis U into latrines. Why aren’t you addressing that? People who think and act like you caused the supporters of the Crown to be silent for over 35 years. This is a time for Atonement –many of the students who rebelled against HIM have their regrets today…I’m sure many criminals who came over to the US pray for atonement also…but as long as people like you pour gas on the fire…and as long as Ethiopia disrespects the Throne which was established by God in ancient times…there shall be no real peace in Ethiopia. We pray for the Throne to be Remarried to the Church, as it was in ancient times let it be so today.

  2. Marcus Garvey, Haile Selassie, and Malcolm X
When studying Garvey you will come across the time he reached out to Haile Selassie for assistance with establishing a home in Africa for Africans in the diaspora, Halie Selassie refused to meet with Garvey and said the resin was because Garvey was a “Negro”, Haile Selassie did not consider himself to be a “Negro”, he thought of himself as being Caucasian and said so in his reply letter to Garvey and Garvey published that letter in his newspaper. Selassie did the same thing when Malcolm X reached out to him years laterhttps://www.facebook.com/MAURICEMANSA/posts/10201413846770144?stream_ref=5

  3. Dear Editor,

I am wondering why you blocked my comment. Is that the way to promote free speech? How is this different from what TPLF weyane has been doing? thank you

  4. I suggest to all to learn a bit of history from a well known historian, Dr. Lapheso. The myth about Saba and the Solomonic Dynasty is very relevant to this article. Is Saba truly an Abyssinian? Was a son known as Minillik I born to Saba and Solomon???
