Ethiopian Airlines made its historic maiden flight to Hangzhou on May 03, 2011. Hangzhou is our fourth destination in china along with Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Hangzhou is a great alternative to the busy Shanghai airport for those traveling to/from Shanghai as it is only 45 minutes away by high-speed train. Hangzhou is also ideally located for both business people and for travelers. Yiwu, a famous commodities trade center, is only 100km away with convenient and frequent coach services. Ethiopian’s new flight service to Hangzhou provides travelers from all over Africa an easy and fast transportation to the strategic Chinese business hub of Shangai and Yiwu.

With the opening of new flight services in Hangzhou, Ethiopian expands dependable passenger and cargo handling services to traders, business people and tourists between China and Africa via its strategic business hub at Addis Ababa.

In addition to the five weekly flights to Hangzhou, Ethiopian provides daily services to Beijing and Guangzhou, as well as four weekly flights to Hong Kong offering a total of 23 weekly flights to these cities. “This new operation to Hangzhou reinforces our commitment to the Chinese traveling public and the strong ties between China and Africa”, said Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

In another development, effective May 01, 2011, Ethiopian has launched daily non-stop flight services between Addis Ababa and Beijing with the ultra modern Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, making the first non-stop service from Africa to China. Ethiopian Airlines has been serving Beijing since 1973, and the introduction of the direct flight with Boeing 777-200LR brings in a new level of comfort and convenience to passengers.

The Ethiopian Airlines customer loyalty service, ShebaMiles, offers double bonus Miles for its members flying to/from Beijing on the new non-stop flight from May 01 to June 30, 2011 and to customers flying to/from Hangzhou from May 03 to July 30, 2011.
