Earlier, few media outlets with logistical and political ties with the Ethiopian government had reported that Ethiopia has been responding to an attack by Eritrea on the Tsorena Front. The Tsorena Front is said to be among the four fronts that is closer to Eritrea.
Since the two years border war of 1998-2000, there were several border skirmishes between Ethiopia and Eritrea. None of them has been intent on or capable of launching a full scale war.
The few reactions on social media have been diverse with little nationalistic reactions compared to the situations in the 1998-2000 war. Many Diaspora based Eritreans on Community Voice Chat Rooms have been divided about the current conflict with the majority saying that there should be no conflict while many others were saying that the no peace no war situation must end once and for all.
The responses within the Ethiopian social mediasphere has been divided according to the political inclinations of the digital communities. Most pro government media outlets and social media users have showed their support to the government and called the Ethiopian government to go as far as the Capital Asmera, Eritrea to remove Isaias Afwerki.
The rest of the Ethiopian social media communities, mostly those that are critical of the incumbent, have vowed not to support the current conflict, while not a few opposition supporters claimed to stand with the Eritrean regime.

  1. I am Eritrean and we are getting ready to get ride of the dictator by any means. Ethiopia needs to restrain itself and help the real opposition that’s is on the ground, you know who it is. The dictator is trying to use this war with Ethiopia as a way to justify all the abuse he has been causing against Eritrean youth and anyone that challenges him. He is using the threat against Ethiopia for the iron grip. Now Ethiopia should not walk in to his game. Stay away and watch him get hang by Eritreans and International organization that support human rights. If Ethiopia counter attacks, then he will use the show to get the tiny support he has. He is playing a game, we all know his game. He is not fooling anyone but himself. He made his own troops weak, he divided the people around region and religion. He has committed mass murders and disappearance. This truth is finally coming from his former agents that quit once they saw it was all for his power greed. He has no support from the true Eritreans, he has the some regional and bunch of idiots behind him so he can’t possibly win. Ethiopia needs not attack our forced soldiers, only target him and his little puppets, the youth are serving by force, so it would be injustice to order full military attack, you have to give the soldiers a way to scape from this dictator. Ethiopia and Eritreans are descendent of the same ancesrers so we always have to remember that. Let’s just get ride of the cancers in our societies.

Even he want to start war , just defend your self , issyass moves his families to Arab gulf country long time ago , he just playing the last card he had , that is starting the war . Don’t give him chanc to do that .my other advice is to G7 leaders. Dr. Birhanu cheguvera , cut your visit in Germany and protect your armies that you said you had in Eritrea, Dr. Birhanu , you have to go back to Eritrea and defend your friend issyass , comrade Birhanu cheguvera you must learn how to die .there is no development and others with out how to die first ,

  7. Dear Yonas,
    I agree with you specifically with two facts you indicated:
    1. Sure, we are both descendants of the same ancestors and more;
    2. sure we need to get ride of the cancers among others EPLF and TPLF. I agree
    But I think you should not expect the TPLF regime to help in toppling the regime in Asmara. TPLF’s survival depends on that of EPLF.

  15. Why are we killing each other and being looked at in the eyes of the rest of the world like fools? Can anyone tell me one reason why the war is needed? Is it country or border? what is the issue? Neither is worth dying for? A country is defined as a place where its citizens live in freedom and tranquility by abiding to the rule of law. There is no freedom there is no law that serves the people in Ethiopia or Eritrea. Then, out goes dying for a country. We know there is a country for gun wielding morons. Second, border issue – TPLF has given the fertile lands of the nation as if he is passing a piece of bread at a party without any remorse or future insight to the Sudan and Eritrea. Furthermore, it is TPLF who left the country landlocked by letting Eritrea secede and keep both ports. Why then will anyone pay the ultimate price on either side? The American General Smedley Darlington Butler in his book War is Racket have said “To Hell with War”. He has seen it all. Who pushes others to die and who profits from war. I say stop these idiotic and senseless killings of each other and wake up and negotiate your differences and let us live together for the benefits of our people. Stop the killing. War is never a solution!

    • You maybe one of those dogs who will benefit from the death of others through worthless conflict. People are trying to express their views using a foreign language to those who are pinheads like you. Get lost nana.

  16. What War? This won’t be war between Ethiopia versus Eritrea.This is nothing more than brotherly feud gone too far: I mean the feud between tigrangnya speaking Tigrains and tigrangna speaking Hamasien Erits for power struggle.

  17. I would really be worried what will happen to me upon return to Addis if I was the Ethiopian military personell leader ,leading this fight in Eritrea.

  18. Guys!!! The Eritrean Government knows how to manipulate or playing games or diverting ideas or provoking or double- standard plays or back biting or hit and run or giving wrong informations to publics or shouting as if they are attacked or touched and so on. In this case; it is to early to blame or to take a stand on current situation. What I know is the Essayas government has the above characters during while in the field.
