Bahir Dar, the capital city of the Amhara region, in North Ethiopia, has been on stay away general strike against the government for the past three days. The city streets have been deserted with no transportation and services open. This follows the recent general strike in Gonder city two weeks ago.

The city administration has been distributing letters to the city’s businesses since yesterday ordering them to open for business on 23-8-2016 and offer services.
