CECAFA Kagame Cup: Salhadin Said of St George on track to retain Golden Boot Award

St. George’s striker Salhadin Said has set his sights on retaining the golden boot award at this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup.

Said emerged top scorer with seven goals in Rwanda last year where the Ethiopian side lost to the finals to APR of Rwanda.

This year, Salhadin has put himself in prime position to bag the award again yet another prize as he hit five goals past Ports of Djibouti in Group C where they finished as the group leaders with seven points.

Salhadin told SuperSport.com, “I thank God for his guidance as I was happy to have got five goals in one match. I want to repeat last year’s feat and maybe even better so that I can get the golden boot once again. I want to thank my team mates for making the job easier for me since without them i could not have scored the goals.”

“This year’s tournament is very competitive and this gives you a chance to shine even more. I feel I have hit my peak form and i only want to achieve what many have not done in terms of helping my team to this year’s title and being the best,” he added.

Salhadin Said scored both goals for Ethiopia in a 2-2 draw against the Super Eagles in a Group B African Cup of Nations qualifying match played in Addis Ababa recently.

The player has also featured for Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade. St. George will meet Vital O of Burundi in the quarter finals of the ongoing Cecafa Kagame cup.
