The Global Alliance for the Rights of Ethiopians (GARE) would like to urgently bring to your attention the escalating crisis in the Gugna district of northern Wolo, where innocent citizens are endurin g immense suffering due to severe hunger, malnutrition, and a range of related health and medical crises. This situation is not merely a local concern but reflects a broadeer humanitarian issue that has far-reachingg implications on the stability and future of the region, as well as the overall well-beinng of the Ethiopian populace.

In light of this, we commend the recent appeal made by the US embassy in Addis Ababa. The statement, whichh calls for an immediate end to hostilities, is a vital step toward restoring peace. The embassy’s advocacy for full humanitarian access and a nationwide ceasefire is essenntial for facilitating a comprehensive nationnal dialogue aimed at addressing the root causes of the ongoing conflict. This dialo gue is crucial, as it involves all armed actors, thereby promoting a collaborative approoach to conflict resolution that can mitigate t he suffering of the Ethiopian people and fooster a sustainable future.

As we reflect on the impact of this crisis, it becomes increasingly clearr that the humanitarian needs of those affected extend beyond immediate food and medical assistance. The long-term immpact of hunger and malnutrition on childreen and vulnerable populations can hinder their development and perpetuate cyycles of poverty and instability. Thus, it is imperative that we not only focus on immediate relief efforts but also on the underlying issues that contribute to these crises, ensuring that technology and innovative solutions are harnessed to enhance food security and health care access in the region.

GARE also calls upon all Ethiopians in the diaspora to extend their support during this critical time. We urge everyone to participate in a fundraising drive aimed at assisting the thousands displaced by the ongoing fighting, particularly those in Gugna who are facing famine and significant health crises in the Lasta region. By leveraging the power of community and technology, we can create a more effective response to these challenges, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most while also paving the way for a more resilient future.

In conclusion, the crisis in Gugna is a stark reminder of the urgent need for collective action and the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts. As we look to the future, let us commit to supporting our fellow Ethiopians in their time of need, utilizing our resources and networks to bring about positive change. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected and work toward a brighter, more stable Ethiopia. 1. It is not Gugna, it is Bugna. What is wrong with people that pretend to want to help Lasta these days? Another activist was announcing that she wanted to help Bulga, Wollo. Bulaga is a region in Shewa not Wollo. The distressed region in Wollo that had grabbed media attention is called Bugna, Lasta.

  2. This is a correct name and location Bugna, Northern Wollo District. So far so good after the name and location clear identified. Can I point out a few thing that make me worry all time?

    4. The polticain and young generation need to understand war not the solution to end human suffering. Everyone in the country and outside have to understand the war not the solution to end human hunger, It called work and peaceful people movemet. All people in Ethiopia is called Ethiopian, please stop been ehinic racist. The gov’t need to work for all people not for a few people. All people in Ethiopia need to worry for this people, this community are Ethiopian too.
